So I know this is random, but this could be quite useful in a pinch…

So, we’ve got this water leak popping out of one wall in the house.  There’s no plumbing in that wall, so that can mean only one thing…roof problem.  Which, by the way, our home warranty doesn’t cover.  So, we’re kind in a tight spot.  Anyone out there happen to be a roofer who charges minimum wage?  I’ll double it!!!!  Seriously, if anyone knows a good roofing company in Waco, I’m all ears.

So I got home today, and Jenn told me she had a great day today…turns out that meant she is moving to a new position with JBS.  She is going to start immediately transitioning from her current Admin position into a joint role in Accounting/Payroll.  It doesn’t necessarily mean a raise immediately, but there is more opportunity there, and it will get her away from doing the same old things she’s getting tired of, and dealing with the same old people that are wearing her down.  They selected her for the job (her HR director said the supervisors requested her by name repeatedly), even though she has no financial experience, education, or training, which says a lot about how much they value her work ethic.  So, yay for Jenn!  I’m quite proud of her!

Ok, so the domain finally transferred!  Yay…the rest of the world (or all 2 or 3 people who care to look) can finally see my new blog.  Rock and roll!

Who’da thunk that a simple domain transfer would get so messy? As I write this, no one will be able to see it for (hours? days?) because my domain currently exists in some sort of lingo between 1and1 and Dreamhost. I’m not even sure of the status of the transfer, and I get a different response from each attempt to find out, and each company seems to be blissfully unaware of what the other is doing. Despite all I had heard about the competence of Dreamhost, I’m beginning to doubt my decision to make the fateful move. In the meanwhile, email seems to be swimming along happily, at least. Maybe someday everything will propagate and all will be well. For the now, I’ll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. I’m still dreaming of hosting heaven in ‘07!

Now that I’ve gotten through the crazy mess that is the holiday season, let me take the time to wish everyone reading this (how many people is that, really?) a posthumous Happy Holidays!

The season has been crazy for us. We’ve gotten to spend a decent bit of time with the families, work has been reasonably slow, and that was all good. To balance it out, though, we’ve had car trouble, house troubles, and sick dogs. All is (more or less) well for the now, but I am left with a bit of “what else could go wrong?” running through my thoughts. In the end, it all worked out, and it’s been good fun. Plus, I got to climb around in the attic and see what the house looks like up there (which, incidentally, is pretty stinkin’ cool to see where the new addition was put on).

Now, we’re into round two of presents season for me. That’s giving, not receiving. I go from Sister’s Birthday (12/22) Christmas (12/25) to Wedding Anniversary (1/3) to Wife’s Birthday (1/24) to Valentine’s Day (2/14). Needless to say, I’m looking forward to what I’m hoping is a very generous tax refund this year.
